I explained that ‘May the 4th’ was often called Star Wars Day and asked if they could think of any quotes from the film that explained why.

Ioan said, “I know what they say, ‘I am your father!'”

Resources

Desert:

  • Brown paper
  • Material samples
  • Bottle lids

Forest:

  • Wooden spools
  • Trees
  • Leaves

Snow plains:

  • Packing peanuts
  • Polystyrene packaging

Space

  • Glow in the dark stars

Method

The boys set up the tray with four areas for the desert, forest, snow plains and ‘space’, then went off to draw the characters to play with.

Meanwhile, we surprised them with some of Daddy’s old toys. As soon as they saw them they got stuck in playing.

Finn used a packaging nugget as a snow mobile, while Ioan busied himself with the X-Wing.

Finn was very into the Tauntaun snow lizard, which he kept calling, “My dragon!”
