Since doing some kinaesthetic activities for the Phonics sound ‘or’, Ioan has been asking to do some more activities for other Phase 3 Sounds. I set out a carousel of activities for him to work through and he was in his element.

Resources

  • Loose parts: Crystal vase fillers, Shells, Buttons, Pom-poms, Syringe adaptors, Feathers, Sponge letters, Rainbow pebbles, Pine cones, Bath letters, Alphablock letters, Wooden people, Wooden letters, Alphablock jigsaw letters
  • Whiteboard and pens
  • Jolly Phonics songs on i-pad
  • Chalk board
  • Magnetic letters and blackboard
  • Aquadoodle
  • Magnetic sand board
  • Magnetic pen board
  • Crayola whiteboard crayons
  • Letter stencils

Method

Ioan circles each word off on the whiteboard once he’s finished a circuit.

He used loose parts to ‘make’ the letters in the sound ‘ar’. Once he’d finished, he said the sound at different volumes and in different voices.
