When Ioan started school in September, pink was his favourite colour. Until he wore his favourite pink socks to non-uniform day and some of the children commented. Since then he prefers blue. I don’t blame him, it’s hard not to be influenced by your peers at the age of 5.
All we can do as parents it to support our children as they walk the tightrope between ‘fitting in’ versus individuality.
He’ll still happily wear his favourite pyjamas and socks indoors, but when wearing these heels (which they’ve done many times before) he felt they both needed to make themselves look ‘more like boys’. This was how they went about it.
