Ioan and Finny really enjoyed observing tadpoles with their friend at the park. Fergus had found a small pool, hidden away, that was filled with tadpoles.
Cian was desperate for his next, ‘Mummy and Cici day’ so we could head to the pool and he could look for some tadpoles. He wanted to take his frog life cycle figures along with him.
Cics was delighted with ‘Fergus’ Pool’, as it has been named by the boys.
He filled up a tray with some water and gently caught some tadpoles to put in his tray, he enjoyed observing them through his magnifying glass.
Cian used the frog life cycle book to show me what stage he thought the tadpoles from the pool were at.
Cici warned and reassured the tadpoles about the changes that might be coming up.
We then put them back in Fergus’ Pool.

ELG 14 – The world:
Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.
