We combined two activities today, seeing as a lot of the resources overlapped. We made some decorations and cards to send to Father Christmas.

Resources for decorations

  • Lollipop sticks
  • Felt tips/paint to colour lollipop sticks
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Red and green triangles of card
  • Googly eyes
  • White paper cut out as below for hat and moustache
  • Cupcake cases or paper beard
  • Pom poms
  • Sequins

Method

Step 1: Colour lollipop sticks and leave to dry.

Step 2: Assemble decorations as shown below.

Resources for cards

  • Artwork for outside of card
  • Images of the presents they want to include on their list
  • Wording e.g. ‘Dear Father Christmas’ and ‘Love from Cian xxx’
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step 1: Select artwork and fold to turn in to a card. The boys chose their bell and pine cone paintings.

Step 2: Cut and stick the images on to the inside of the card.

This was differentiated as the boys stuck all of Cian’s pictures and text in to his card as they were. Finn cut around his pictures in squares and used the text for “Dear Father Christmas’ and “Love from”, but wrote his name and kisses. Ioan cut carefully around the contour of each picture and did all of the writing himself.
