To celebrate the last day of term before the Easter holidays, we decided to wrap up warm and get outside to do an ‘egg stomp’. This is such a simple activity, but great for working on gross motor skills.

Resources

  • Used egg shells
  • Tuff tray

Method

Ioan enjoyed thinking of verbs (‘doing’ or action words) to describe the egg stomp. He then set up the tray for Cian, who is 17 months old.

Cian stamped on one egg, then squatted down to investigate more closely.

It wasn’t long before Ioan and Finn came to join in the fun.

Cian was watching the jumping going on around him, so attempted to copy. He was doing deep squats, then trying to jump off the ground.

Ioan challenged Finn to a jumping contest, he wanted to see how high they could both jump. Ioan went first.

Finn was determined to beat his big brother.
