After reading ‘Square’ and ‘Ten Little Bookworms’, Finn decided to make homes and a train land for them.
Resources
- ‘Square’ by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen
- ‘Ten Little Bookworms’ by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickertey
- Grimm’s large stepped pyramid
- Grimm’s rainbow building boards
- Grimm’s rainbows
- Magnatiles
- Wooden train
- Grapat loose parts
Method
This was entirely independent play. Finn spent a whole day playing this yesterday!
He proudly talked me through what he had set up.
Circle kissed his parents goodbye before getting on the train. Triangle invited his parents along.
Finn role played the bookworms jumping excitedly on to the train again and again.
When the bookworms finally got home (inside two of the rainbow pieces) he tucked them all in and put the roof back on their house.
