After seeing Ioan’s ‘Read and Spell Egg Smash‘, Finn wanted an egg smash of his own. It was no surprise that he wanted his to include numbers.

Method
I wrote some sums on some empty egg shells. Finn had to read and answer the sum, in order to smash it.
The first sum he chose was “2+3=5”.
He kept turning the eggs over so that they were facing the right way because: “Don’t want any others to smash!”
Next he picked 2+2.
4+2.
2+1. I was cruel and had filled Finn’s eggs with the crushed shells from Ioan’s egg smash to extend the activity. This meant they got progressively hard to smash.
1+1 was pretty rammed full with smashed up egg shells so took noticeably longer to smash.
For contrast, I added one subtraction sum at the end. After Finn had eventually smashed the egg for 2-1, he gave his silent cheer.
