Ioan’s Reception class have started having spellings to learn. After our ‘scrambled snake‘ yesterday, we had plenty of egg shells.

Resources

  • Egg shells with words written on
  • Egg box
  • Baby chicks
  • Plastic eggs

Method

Both boys were excited when they saw the hammer and the eggs. First of all Ioan read the instructions out loud.

He opened the plastic eggs one at a time, then read the word to release the chick.

Next he had to spell the word to smash the eggs.

He covered up the words, then spelt them out loud. When he had spelt the word correctly, he could smash the corresponding egg.

Spelling ‘what’.

Spelling ‘was’.
