I left out a weekend challenge for them to find. It challenged them to dress up as Alvin and the Chipmunks. We don’t have any chipmunk fancy dress costumes, so it was up to them to be resourceful.

Resources

  • Clothes from their wardrobes
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape

Method

Ioan read the challenge and worked out which order they needed to complete the tasks in.

Step 1: Ioan worked out a plan was titled, ‘A instructions’ and it had all the resources he would need drawn on it.

Step 2: They went in to their bedrooms and found the right colour clothes. All their t-shirts had something on the front so they just decided to wear them back to front. Ioan cut out his ‘A’ as he had planned.

Step 3: They dressed up and went out in the garden to play as chipmunks. From L-R: Simon, Alvin and Theodore.

They danced to some of their favourite songs from Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Their favourite is, You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive. Cian danced around holding the phone. Then they acted out some of their favourite scenes from the film.

Then they chased each other around, playing ‘tig’.
