These are just a few of the rainbows they’ve made during this past two weeks of lockdown. We want to say a huge thank you to all the key workers who are working hard to keep us safe.

Resources

Some of our rainbow art:

Plus:

  • Coloured card or paper
  • Hand made letter stencils
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • White tac

Method

First of all, Ioan and Finn decided what message they wanted on the window. They picked a quote from Maya Angelou and set out the letter stencils in order.

When they started running out of letter stencils, they used some of our wooden letters to help them keep track. Ioan then started drawing round the stencils, using pink lower case letters for all of the words apart from colourful upper case letters in ‘RAINBOW’. Next we cut them out.

Ioan directed where all of the letters and pictures should be stuck, while Finn balanced our Grimm’s rainbows on some bricks. He worked out he needed to raise them up so they could be seen clearly from outside.

Once they had finished their window display, they loved waving at the neighbours as they came to look at them.
