World Book Day: Penguins Part 4. The Daddy penguins had to race each other to collect fish for their baby chicks.
- Fish dice game
This is one of my games from when I was younger. They had to roll the dice, then find the corresponding body part to make up a fish. Ioan was determined to catch a whole shoal of fish to feed the baby penguin chicks.
Finn decided they should add to the game by telling each other what the double of each number they rolled was, as well as it’s number bond to 10.
DfES Early Learning Goals (2017)
Personal, social and emotional development
ELG 08 – Making relationships:
Children play co-operatively, taking turns with others. They take account of one another’s ideas about how to organise their activity. They show sensitivity to others’ needs and feelings, and form positive relationships with adults and other children.
ELG 11 – Numbers:
Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
