Finn’s first sink play had to be based on the Mummy duck who hatched ducklings in our garden overnight.

Resources

  • Ducks with letters written underneath
  • Fishing rod
  • Leaves
  • Water coloured green

Method

I always love capturing his first reaction as Finn is always so excited.

It took some practise to wind the fishing rod up, Finn kept saying, “It is a bit tricky!”

The first letters he pulled out were ‘I’, ‘A’ and ‘N’ which he spotted were all both in Ioan and Cian’s names.

Being Finn, he managed to bring numbers in to a letter activity:

The ducks were floating around the sink and Finn observed that they were following their Mummy duck, just like the ducklings we saw in the garden this morning.

They finished of by Mummy duck calling the register and the letters for that name jumping in to the pond.
