Continuing with the crafts from our spring craft tray, Ioan and Finn decided to do some tissue paper crafts. This was another child-led craft. As usual, Ioan chose to create something realistic.
Finn made a super hero egg.
Resources
- Sticky back card (or some card and glue)
- Coloured tissue paper
- Googly eyes
Method
Ioan worked on decorating a butterfly. To create different effects he used the tissue paper differently. When he wanted a more 3-D effect he scrunched the tissue paper into a ball. When he wanted it looking more 2-D, he just tore up the tissue paper and stuck it on flat. When he’d finished, Ioan launched straight in to some role play with his butterfly in the garden.
Finn was happy making his Super Egg, but was struggling to open his eyes with his chicken pox. He said his egg would help him by using it’s googly eyes to see for him.
Finn is superhero mad, following our superhero walk.
Afterwards, Finn played in the garden. He sang and acting out “Super Eggy sat on the wall” to the tune of Humpty Dumpty. He’s clearly not letting the nasty chicken pox in his eye affect him. When it was swollen closed earlier he was excitedly telling us, “Look, mine eye does wink and I not even trying!”
